This lamp is cafted from a salvaged balcony from a traditional house replaced by a modern building in the neighborhood of Gemmayze in Beirut. This is one of the last neighborhoods of Beirut where old buildings still stand. Gemmayze is a vibrant street with countless restaurants, cafes and clubs. It is one of the very rare examples where entrepreneurs have actually helped preserve old houses by transforming them into entertainment venues.
The lamp base shows a recurrent geometric pattern and the height makes this lamp perfect as a reading (and also very decorative) lamp. The electric wire is vintage looking brown fabric.
The featured lampshade has an oval shape and is made out a hand-sewn white organza on cotton and mounted on a transparent shade paper which allow transparency and lightness.
